Aluminum hydroxide flame retardant selection should pay attention to quality indicators

Aluminum hydroxide flame retardant has the advantages of non-toxicity, good stability, no toxic gas at high temperature, and can also reduce the amount of smoke during plastic combustion, and the dehydration and heat absorption temperature is low. Flame retardant polyolefins with 60% aluminum hydroxide added can be used as building materials, interior decoration materials for automobiles and ships.
Aluminum hydroxide used as flame retardants in the domestic and foreign markets is mainly monotrihydrate and alumina (ATH), which are commonly expressed as a-A120.3 H20. It is a crystalline or amorphous white powder. The crystal structure is composed of tightly packed meridian ions in the form of AB double layers, while aluminum ions are among the above-mentioned deposited 9s-based ions, and all the formed octahedral voids are empty. This tightly packed meridian ions form a layered structure, and the adjacent two layers are connected by hydrogen bonds formed by meridian ions.
The thermal dehydration and phase transition of aluminum hydroxide are very complicated. When choosing aluminum hydroxide as flame retardant, the quality index of aluminum hydroxide should be selected according to the requirements of the thermal decomposition temperature of the polymer matrix material and the molding temperature.
Modified aluminum hydroxide flame retardant is one of the halogen-free flame retardants for synthetic materials. It has three functions of flame retardant, smoke reduction and filling, and has no secondary pollution during combustion. It not only has good dispersibility in polymers, but also is widely used in electrical, wire, cable, daily necessities, building materials, transportation and other plastic and rubber products. (jwl)
